Manufacturing Update March 21, 2022

Good afternoon BT Family. Welcome to Monday. First, apologies for not getting an update out to you Friday. Unfortunately the person behind the keyboard on these updates was struggling all day Friday with food poisoning. Huge appreciation for the understanding, therefore, today we are back with the latest information. Pull up a chair and our team will get you guys and gals filled in.

Factory Color Match

First thing we definitely want to address is the factory color match painting.

Folks we are currently in the process of completing a bunch of TorRed that we sent for color match in January (01.31) and hope to be buttoned up with all those orders by month’s end.

Batches Out for Color Match

Right now we have Sublime Green, Plum Crazy Purple and Jazz Blue out at for paint color match. We are expecting those to come back in here before the end of the month. The Team at CCF out in California is working hard to get all these orders completed.

Orders Bundled for Color Match

All orders in B5 Blue, Octane Red and Smoke Show that are open through the second week of March are bundled up and ready to send out to California to be painted. B5, and Octane Red will go out within the week.

We know a lot of you are antsy (I have chatted with many of you on those respective finishes). Many are from the holiday sales. We have started to reach out to everyone to reconfirm your orders.

Those of you that paid with a credit card we are going over reauthorization options with you guys. After 60 days we are no longer able to reauthorize cards as they do drop off completely from our site for your protection. Also for your protection we can not see the entire card, and the entire card is not on display within our site. Only the last 4 digits of the card.

Color Match Batches On Deck

Redline Red and F8 Green and Destroyer Grey will be the next factory color matches to head off to paint and those will go in early April.

Why the Color Match Option Takes Longer

Folks the factory color match is the only real issue we are having at the moment as far as turn around. Our partners at CCF are working very hard folks, and we stand with them. As you can imagine if you have paid attention over the past two years California businesses were decimated by lock downs, etc.

We stand with our family owned small businesses and this is no different. We have had a local painter working on projects for us, the paint was on point but peeling in the engraving process and or assembly process on many of the orders forced us to discontinue using them sadly. It was unfortunate we had to part ways with that company on good terms. They understood that it becomes too costly for everyone and most importantly creates frustrations with customers.

The Team at CCF we do not have those issues, but yes the wait will be longer. We we are actively working on finding another paining source local for the catch cans at the very least. We stay in touch with you guys and gals and less than 1% of you cancel because you know what you are getting with us, we stand behind our products and if you have issues we are here for you to take care of them.

We don’t want to stop the factory color match we had high hopes of expanding having two painters on board but right now we are keeping the most popular colors we sell on while discontinuing Jazz Blue, and Sublime after we receive those finishes back that are out.

Lead Time for Anodize & Powder Coat

As far as our other color offerings in anodize and powder coat we are getting a 7-10 day turn around from our local suppliers on those finishes. So you are seeing a pretty quick turn around time between the day you order and the day we ship.

Colors In

Speaking of orders coming back in, the orange/matte orange anodize batch is back and on the tables below.

The standard red anodize will be back later today, or early Wednesday morning. We are marking the red as “back in” on this update as tentative since the batch is finished and being sealed now. That was a large batch of parts with well over 2,000 unique pieces.

Other Batches Returning This Week

We should be receiving the white, yellow and racing red powder coat batches back in before the end of the week.

Colors Out

We sent out more blue/matte blue, matte red, and lime green metallic powder coat late last week. You can find those orders as “out” on the tables below with any respective comments as needed. When in doubt about anything just reach out to us.

Satin Machine Finish

Satin machine finished orders NEVER make the tables as we keep all our products in machine satin blanks.

Satin machine finish catch cans ship with 3-7 days from ordering.

If you need us to ship your catch can the next business day after you order it just let us know in the orders comments if ordering online, and we will take care of that for you.

Ordering over phone? Let the friendly BT teammate on the other end of the line know, and we will take care of it of it for you.

Satin machine finish under hood items ship usually within days or sooner from the time you order as long as we have stock. We keep stock status up to date in the availability area next to the unit price on each product.

Fuse Boxes

Speaking of stock status, fuse boxes are back in to stock on all vehicles we support. We have started to ship the Ram/Jeep/Durango covers first. The cars will start to ship in satin machine finish next week, with a whole haul of colors starting to head out for anodize, polish, and paint late next week, continuing all through the week of March 28th.

Coolant Tank Covers

We got our last drop of material for coolant tank covers early last week from the good folks at Alro Metals. Team BT always uses domestic certified 6061. It was a bitch getting this drop. We got the last of it in Indiana that we had saw cut for us.

After we complete these 27 pieces that’s it for awhile, the material is getting extremely hard to get. We have every open order covered, and as of this morning we have 4 left.

We have shipped over 100 satin machine finished covers off this manufacturing run. All the colors as well as polish are starting to come back and are shipping. We have several out at paint match now, and more will be going in the coming weeks with more coolant tank covers going to plate and polish too.

Orange, matte orange, and some titanium sets are coming back in and shipping or in the shop for those of you with custom engravings.

A whole slew of red anodize, racing red powder coat and white powder coat and yellow are out on the coolant tank covers right now too.

Coolant Tank Info Future Biz

Folks after we posted about the coolant tank covers on our Facebook page last week we had some emails and calls asking if this was the last of them. These ARE NOT retiring to the BT vault. We wanted to keep running more of these covers while we have been setup the past month knocking out the back biz (most from the holidays and holiday sales) and put 20-30 on the shelf for future biz.

As new customers or current customers saw these coolant tank covers running, we have people calling and ordering them. A lot of folks watch these updates to see whats “on deck” and order then.

The fact that we cannot get the material that we need to produce these is why after we wrap up this round it’s going to be a bit before we run them again. We will start looking for material again in Late May or Early June.

We can acquire foreign material but that my friends is not ever gonna fly here regardless of world events. There is A HUGE DIFFERENCE in how the mystery meat (material) machines from China, Russia, India etc. Domestic, CERTIFIED (all certs on file with traceability) materials is all that will ever be machined on our CNC’s period!

Final Processes

Friends just a reminder when we do receive our orders back from outside finishes, the team checks the items, does a count to make sure all pieces are there, and then a quality check.

Any items that require assembly are routed in to the assembly queue as well as any items needing engraving go out into the shop. Non-engraved items ship within 2 days after we get the parts in.

Once we do the check-in, final charges on any outstanding balances are completed, if you paid via credit card, in preparation for shipping. When we do that your order will move to “Pending To Ship Status”. Expect us to ship your order within 7-10 business days when this takes place.

When your order moves to “Ready To Ship Status” the order will be shipping within 1 business day.
