MFG Update December 18, 2018

UPDATE: 12.19.2018 – We have added the orders which will return from white powder coat on December 20th to the table section. Any holiday delivery requests in that batch are still on schedule to arrive in time for Christmas.

Good afternoon folks and welcome. We are in the home stretch before Christmas. There is a lot of information to cover, so please take a few minutes and read this update. Below you’ll find information on holiday deliveries, holiday schedule, catch can production, downtime for outside services (anodize, powder coat and polish), and downtime for other shop repairs and updates. Thank you all for your continued support, trust and inspiration.

Holiday Deliveries

We have all items back from anodize that were holiday delivery requests. The only finishes we have left that need to come back in from our powder coater are Lime Green (sent out on December 5th), and White (sent out on December 10th). We are very hopeful that those items will be back here no later than Wednesday. Any holiday requests from those batches will be handled IMMEDIATELY.

We have started to assemble the catch cans which have returned from anodize. All parts that need to be engraved have been routed into the shop so the team can complete and ship these items, so you have them by the 24th. If necessary we will send orders via holiday USPS Tuesday, December 25th Express Mail but will be using UPS, Fed Ex and USPS to get those packages to you on the holiday requests.  

If you have been following along with our updates you will have seen we have other finishes that have come back in as well and we have been completing and shipping those to ensure delivery in time for Christmas.

Non-Holiday Delivery Orders Which are Back from Color

Some of the orders that are back in from plate, polish or powder coat were not holiday requests, they were however orders we had everything here in machine satin and sent out to ensure color continuity. We also are wrapping those orders up as well and will ship them concurrently with the holiday requests.

You may or may not receive your order by the 25th if you did not request holiday delivery and see your order has come back in. The team is working on it but holiday requests, and there were many, are being given priority. You should receive your packages if you came back in from plating before the end of the month. When in doubt please give us a call (561.582.6171).

Satin Machine Finish Items

Satin catch cans are shipping daily, and the team is wrapping up most of the satin machine finish parts that were ordered during the sale, even some which were ordered in December. We are shipping partial shipments out on satin orders. For example, if you ordered a under hood kit, catch can and fuse box cover, but we are out of fuse boxes by the time we go to fill to your order, we will ship you everything but the fuse box cover.

We never charge you any additional shipping charges when we send partial shipments. The only charge is the charge that is on your order confirmation no more. Team BT processes, and fills orders in order of receipt unless it is a holiday request.

Reminder: Coolant Tank Covers

Please note that coolant tank covers will not be shipping in December, even if you have a requested holiday delivery. As mentioned in previous updates, material for the coolant tank covers will be here the first week of January. That batch is shaping up to be a very large production run.

Anodize and Powder Coating: Paused Until January

Our supplier partners are closing on Friday, December 21st for the holidays and will resume operations again on January 2nd or 3rd. We will resume sending colors out to plate and powder coating again the second week of January.

You will notice a pause in the order tables posted in that time frame, but do not be concerned. When January hits, Team BT, and our suppliers will be running in high gear to get your products machined, plated, engraved and in your hands as quickly as possible (without sacrificing quality of course). These batches to be plated or powder coated in early January will be massive.

You guys and gals have not slowed down since our annual sale last month. We are humbled by your support, even when you know you will wait. Team BT will always do our very best to pay the good will you show us forward, and bring you the best product for your money. We know you have a choice and our team sincerely thanks all of you for being part of our family.

New Machine in January

As reported in prior updates, we have new machinery on order and will be taking delivery in early to mid January. This investment in our business is a direct result of your support of our team and our products. Thank you so much. It’s always a hard decision to want to take on additional financial responsibility. We simply have had to make the choice to do so, in order to provide you better service, and even better products.

Semi-Annual Heavy Maintenance

We are using the 26th and 27th of December to do our semi-annual heavy maintenance here at the facility (machine tear down, cleaning etc). We are moving several things around and have to do some electrical work in the shop to prepare the facility for the new machinery and equipment. This is the ideal time to knock this out, while our vendor partners and some of our team members who work here are on vacation. Team BT will continue to get machine time in the December 26th and 27th of Christmas week but the focus will be maintenance. We will be here to answer your calls and emails.  

Team BT will be down to only one operational lathe for a couple weeks, unfortunately that machine is running non-automotive orders and contract work. We are taking our Okuma lathe down, which runs our catch cans, and pulling the spindle to have it rebuilt during next week’s maintenance.

This is the machine we run cans on. Once we take delivery of our new lathe in January and we get our rebuilt spindle installed on the Okuma, we will have two lathes dedicated only to BT items. This will allow us to double our monthly capacity on cans from just over 1k units every 35-40 days, to 2k units every 35-40 days. This WILL GREATLY improve our lead-time on all finishes.

Catch Can Production Break Until January

With that said starting our production on catch cans will be paused until approximately the middle of January. We have cans in stock and will be shipping only satin cans until after the first of the year. Those of you who ordered a color can and you see it has gone and/or come back in from plate, or powder coating can expect to receive your can earlier.

Our team always does our best to be transparent with you so we you know about production schedules, and what to expect. Therefore, expect color cans to start shipping again if you did not request a holiday delivery sometime in January. Will do our best to move that up and of course keep you posted. Satin cans shipping and will continue to ship.
