Manufacturing Update July 20, 2022

Good afternoon everyone. We are live with a new MFG Update today. Always, our team thanks you for your support and trust that you place in them. Let’s get started on what’s happening at the shop.

Factory Color Match

First, factory color match. We have started just about every update for 2022 with information on factory color match painted parts.

Folks we realize many of these batches have been out for months. Yes months, and a lot of those orders are from the People’s Sale in November. My friends, if we could make it go faster we would. Yes, it’s rubbing salt in the wounds by saying “if you had any other finish your order would have been shipped and gone a long time ago”.

What Are We Doing About It?

With that said, the biggest question we are getting from you guys and gals is: “What are you doing about it BT?”

First, we are being transparent. We do not sugar coat anything. For those wanting a refund it’s issued immediately. You do not have to chase us for a refund, we never ignore you. We are responsible for getting you your color matched parts period, the end.

Please understand when we update you, we are passing on the information that is being given to us by our vendor partner who is painting the parts on the west coast. If it does not happen there, we are back to square one.

We have gone over why we are sticking with our painting partner in previous updates. In many places the Covid lock downs over the past two years devastated a large percentage of small businesses. Those that have been able to ride it out are having issues finding people not only to fill positions, but to the stay and continue to work.

Team BT has been extremely fortunate, that we never once had to shut down and that our crew has been the same group of people for years, with the older folks having worked together now for 30 years or more. Our family members now work within our company, so yes, our corner of the world remained pretty much unchanged.

With that said, and as we have stated prior, we had a local painter doing work for us last year and into the early spring of this year. The paint work was flawless, and the family operating that business are very stand up folks. However, the paint was peeling, either in final engraving, or after it was on customer’s cars. This was becoming too costly of a problem for everyone involved, and we had to part ways.

We are always looking for another good local painter, and have met with several local shops. Each and every one has the same reply: “Not enough man power, or just unable to dedicate the time needed to do the job properly, or within a “reasonable time frame”.

We are currently talking with another shop who is interested in working with us. We are preparing to send a batch to be done in what is arguably the most popular color match option, TorRed.

We will of course keep you all up to date on the paint match each week until we see the light at the end of the tunnel.

B5 Batch is Almost Ready to Ship Back to Us.

Here is what we can report today: B5 Blue the vast majority of the batch is completed. Our vendor partner is wrapping up the balance now, and we are hopeful we see that finish here next week. We pay for the shipping costs back to us and provide the labels to our painter so we can keep an eye on the tracking details, and be ready to get on it asap.

Factory Color Match Batches On Deck

The next finishes are F8, Redline Red, Destroyer Grey, and Plum Crazy. Our painter has ordered more primer and paint for those batches. Indigo Blue, Sublime and the next round of Octane Red are in just behind those listed above.

Painted Color Match Options to be Suspended Friday (July 22nd)

Until such time as the paint is caught up and we have another source secured that nails the color match and quality to go along with it, we are suspending any new paint business effective Friday, July 22nd and pulling the factory color match off the site until its caught up and we see positive movement on what is outstanding at paint currently right now.

Any current order with painted options will be filled.  Most of those parts are currently en route to paint now. You can log in to your account and check to see if the your status is “pending”, which we will add to the order comments. That means your parts are heading or at paint now.

Please understand this is not personal towards anyone (yes we get the occasional call or email that we are showing some folks preferential treatment, etc.). This is not the case. We fill each order as they come in and in order of receipt. No one wants these painted color matched orders out more than we do.

Now on to the rest of the shop business.

Colors Out

Folks we added to the batches of Purple, Matte Purple, and Matte Black anodize that are currently out for plating.

The batch of Racing Red Metallic which is at the powder coater also had a items added to it.

Colors Back

We also received the Polish, Clear Anodize, as well as the Orange and Red anodize batches back in the shop. You can find those tables below for details.

Colors On Deck

We are gathering up and bundling up for the next rounds of Blue, Black, Matte Blue, Matte Red, Standard Black, Titanium and Matte Titanium. If theses finishes are on your radar, orders will be going out for plating next week.

All anodized and powder coating is moving and shipping within lead-time on most of our popular items.  

Satin Machine Finish

Satin machine finished items are shipping within 2 weeks, or less. To this very day satin finish is our most popular. It’s right off the machine and it’s absolutely incredible.

This finish does not have clear coat or clear anodize on it. As with anything if you take care of your parts (per our instructions on the website, or the “How to care for your BT Bling” sheet we send you with your order) the items will look amazing for years to come.

Stock Status

Product availability is up to date on the website.

2005-2010 Throttle Body Covers

The oldest back ordered item is the 2005-2010 throttle body covers, and we are starting to ship satin machine finished parts now. We had a very hard time getting material for that item. It was on order for almost 7 weeks before we got our delivery a few days ago from Alro.

This will be the final run on the 2005-2010 Throttle Body Covers. We should have enough stock to last through the beginning of 2023 based on how many are ordered on average per quarter.

The 2013 and up Throttle Body Cover will remain in the product rotation and we have stock on those.

Catch Cans

Satin machine finish catch cans are shipping within 1-3 days after you place your order with us. We have plenty of stock.

We do have another big batch of fittings at powder coating so there is bit of a delay on some of the cans that require black fittings, but we will resume shipping and getting those orders out next week. We just got an order of nickel fittings in, so there is no delay there.

New – Black Nickel Fittings

For a limited time we are offering black nickel fittings. The black nickel looks fantastic and goes very nicely with Racing Red Metallic, Matte Blue, TorRed and Redline Red. We will have some pictures up on our social channels and the website within the day and the option to order it with the can or standalone to add on t your current catch can.
